Marcus Allen was one of the best players in the history of the Oakland Raiders
Running back Marcus Allen did his best work with the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders. Allen played in 145 games in his 11 years with the Raiders and he carried the ball 2,090 times for 8,545 yards (4.1 ypc) with 79 TD runs. He also caught 446 passes for 4,258 yards (9.5 avg) with 18 TD grabs for the Raiders. Allen’s best season for the Raiders came back in 1985 when he started all 16 games in which he carried the ball 380 times for 1,759 yards (4.6 ypc) with 11 TD runs. He also caught 67 passes for 555 yards (8.3 avg) with 3 TD grabs in 1985. Allen rushed for over 1,000 yards just three times in his 11 years with the Raiders. He also caught at least 60 passes in a season three times. Allen’s most important and best performance was in Super Bowl XVIII when he was the MVP. He earned the MVP Award by rushing for 191 yards on 20 carries (9.6 ypc) with 2 TD runs. He also caught 2 passes for 18 yards (9.0 avg) in that Super Bowl. Allen made it to the Pro Bowl five times with the Raiders and he was elected into Pro Football’s Hall of Fame in 2003.
