The Raiders looked o.k. in this game but not quite good enough to win this game last Friday Night.  Andrew Walter was pretty effective in this game as he completed 16 of 24 passes for 162 yards and he also carried the ball 2 times for 15 yards (7.5 ypc).  Marques Tuisosopo was highly effective in this game completing 3 of 4 passes for 32 yards with 1 TD pass.  He also carried the football 2 times for 13 yards (6.5 ypc) in this game.  Rookie RB Darren McFadden was the leading rusher in the Raiders in this game with 50 yards on 4 carries (12.5 ypc).  Michael Bush also was busy in this game with 12 carries for 42 yards (3.5 ypc).  Louis Rankin pitched in with 28 yards rushing on 7 carries (4.0 ypc) in this game.  Rookie WR Chaz Schilens led the Raiders in receiving with 49 yards on 3 catches (16.3 avg).  Fullback Luke Lawton pitched in with 4 catches for 31 yards (7.8 avg).  The Raiders finished up with 157 yards rushing on 28 carries (5.6 ypc) and they also completed 18 of 28 passes for 181 yards.

The Raiders’ defense did not play well at all in this game.  Safety Marviel Underwood led the Raiders in tackles with 7 in this game.  The Seahawks finished up with 130 yards rushing on 31 carries (4.2 ypc) and they also completed 21 of 31 passes for 253 yards.  The Raiders finished up the preseason with a 1-3 record.

The Oakland Raiders lose WR Drew Carter

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Raider News, Injury Reports, General by admin on Friday 29 August 2008 at 10:19 pm

The Raiders have lost WR Drew Carter for the entire 2008 season due to a torn left ACL.  This is a shame as Carter was going to be the Raiders’ #3 WR this season.  He will likely be replaced as the #3 WR by Johnnie Lee Higgins.  Higgins has the speed for the job but his hands have been unreliable and he appears to be a tad soft.  This will be a position to keep a close eye on this season for the Raiders.

The Oakland Raiders sign safety Marviel Underwood

The Raiders have signed safety Marviel Underwood to help provide depth for them in the secondary.  The 26-year old Underwood has not played in the NFL since the 2005 season with the Packers.  That year he played in 16 games and made 36 tackles and forced 1 fumble.  This is a low risk move for the Raiders as they hope Underwood will be able to help out on special teams and with depth in the defensive backfield.

UPDATE:  The Raiders released Marviel Underwood after the final preseason game.  He made 7 tackles and defensed a pass in his only game as a Raider.

The Oakland Raiders claim fullback Luke Lawton off waivers from the Eagles

The Raiders have claimed fullback Luke Lawton off waivers from the Eagles.  He will replace the injured Oren O’Neal on the Raiders’ roster this season.  He played in 11 games for the Colts last season and he carried the ball 5 times for 13 yards (2.6 ypc).  He also caught 4 passes for 29 yards (7.3 avg) with a TD grab.  The price was right to take a chance on a player like Lawton who could help them out a little bit this season.

The Oakland Raiders place CB John Bowie on I.R.

The Raiders have placed CB John Bowie on the injured reserve list ending his second season before it even starts for the Raiders.  Bowie played in 2 games and made 1 whole tackle last season for the Raiders.  He is most famous for being the player the Raiders acquired from the Patriots for Randy Moss and he will have a hard time ever living up to that.
