The Oakland Raiders sign WR Javon Walker

Blogged under Free Agent Additions, Bloglockers, Front Page, Big Raider News, General by admin on Wednesday 5 March 2008 at 1:04 pm

The Raiders have signed WR Javon Walker to a 6-year, $55 million dollar contract.  Walker played in only 8 games for the Broncos last season and he caught 26 passes for 287 yards (11.0 avg).  Walker has now played in 72 games in his NFL career and he has caught 252 passes for 3,815 yards (15.1 avg) with 30 TD grabs.  If Walker stays healthy he will be the #1 WR for the Raiders.  The added bonus of signing Walker is that it will really bother his ex-coach…..Mike Shanahan.

Jesse….Walker just followed the money which a lot of players do these days. Can’t blame him for getting paid.

Walker is a good signing. Don’t jump on his back if he doesn’t tear it up right away. Let him start to build a chemistry with Russell and come into his own. Also the Raiders need to bring in some young wideouts who Javon can bring them up under his wing.

Javon Walker is going to be star in Oakland. Russell needs some targets to throw the ball to and Walker is a perfect fit. Walker can go up and get the deep ball when needed. Hopefully he stays off the IR.
