Oakland Raiders vs. St. Louis Rams

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, This Week's Matchup Report by ravenhater on Saturday 16 December 2006 at 1:32 am
The Rams have lost their last two games and 7 of their last 8.  The Raiders have lost 6 games in a row.

The Rams will probably come out running the football at the start of this game.  Steven Jackson (1,109 yards rushing) should be able to have success against a Raiders defense that is allowing 133.0 yards rushing per game and 4.0 yards per carry so far this season.  If the Rams get the running game going (likely) and the line gives Marc Bulger time to throw (iffy), the Rams should be able to throw against the Raiders.  Look for the Rams to go after Fabian Washington quite a bit as he was repeatedly scorched by the Bengals last week.  That could mean Isaac Bruce and Kevin Curtis could have big games.  The Rams will also get the ball to their best WR, Torry Holt (76 rec, 985 yards) who will likely be matched up with Nnamdi Asomugha who has 7 interceptions this season.

The Raiders would be smart to run the ball alot with Justin Fargas and RaShard Lee against the Rams defense that is allowing 161.2 yards rushing per game on the road.  The Raiders probably will try to limit their passing as they will be without Randy Moss who’s injured.  Ronald Curry has been stepping up so he would probably be the main guy again on Sunday.

The Rams have better talent on offense and the Raiders have better talent on defense.  I’m picking the Rams because the Raiders have big problems scoring points.

Young Raiders propelling defense

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by ravenhater on Thursday 14 December 2006 at 4:41 pm

The Raiders defense has been much better than anyone thought it would be and that’s because the young players are steppin up fast.  2nd year linebacker Kirk Morrison has been great in the middle with 107 tackles, 2 interceptions and a forced fumble.  Rookie OLB has been a tackling machine with 89 tackles and a pass defensed.  The corners should be thrown in jail for all the stealing they’ve been doing.  Nnamdi Asomugha has 38 tackles, a sack, a forced fumble and 7 interceptions (one of which was returned for a TD).  Fabian Washington has been very active too with 28 tackles, 4 interceptions and 7 passes defensed.

Doug Gabriel back on the Raiders

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Injury Reports by ravenhater on Thursday 14 December 2006 at 12:37 am

The New England Patriots cut Gabriel yesterday and the Raiders claimed him on waivers today.  He has caught 25 passes for 344 yards (13.8 avg) and 3 TDs.  Gabriel might get immediate playing time due to the probability that Randy Moss (ankle) and Jerry Porter (hip) will both be out Sunday against the Rams.

Raider Pride Still Alive

Despite the ill fated season, it’s relieving to still see some pride being shown for the black and silver. There’s a video at Kush TV showing more enthusiasm than ever. Head on over to kushtv.com to see more. RRAAAIIIDDDEERRRSSS!

It’s in the rush section.

Raiders pathetic again in 27-10 loss to Bengals

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by ravenhater on Monday 11 December 2006 at 12:38 am

The Raiders looked like they didn’t belong on the same field with the Bengals.  Aaron Brooks completed 23 of 39 passes for 199 yards with 1 TD and 1 INT.  He also carried the ball 2 times for 11 yards.  Justin Fargas carried the ball 13 times for 37 yards (2.8 ypc).  Ronald Curry led the way for the Raiders in the passing game with 8 receptions for 99 yards and a TD.  Alvis Whitted added 5 catches for 34 yards.  Randy Moss only caught 2 balls for 28 yards.

The defense played one of their worst games of the season as the Bengals did whatever they wanted to.  Kirk Morrison (13 tackles) and Nnamdi Asomugha (2 interceptions) both played well.  The Bengals carried the ball 39 times for 136 yards (3.5 ypc).  The Bengals also completed 21 of 29 passes for 303 net yards passing.

The Raiders fell to 2-11 on the season with this loss.
