Current Raiders odds

The over/under for the Raiders is 6 1/2.  The Raiders are 50-1 to win the Super Bowl and 35-1 to win the AFC.

The suggestion here is to take the over.  The Raiders are going to be better this season due to Art Shell, and the Chiefs and Chargers are going to be falling a bit.

In a shocking move, the Raiders sign QB Jeff George

What a shock!  Well, this is the Raiders so nothing should surprise you.  George hasn’t thrown a pass in a game since the 2001 season!  George will either push Tuiasosopo off the roster, or Andrew Walter is injured a lot worse than the Raiders want to admit.  Either way, it’s not a good sign for the Raiders QB position that George was signed.

Jeff George has played in 131 games (124 starts) and has completed 57.9% of his passes for 27,602 yards with 154 TDs and 113 pick-offs.  His career QB rating is 80.4.

Raiders move to 4-0 with 21-3 victory over Lions

The Raiders pushed the Lions around on Friday night.  Aaron Brooks finally had a good game and looked razor sharp.  Brooks completed 9 of 15 passes for 187 yards and 2 TDs.  Marques Tuiasosopo finished the game and completed 4 of 8 passes for 39 yards.

The Raiders controlled the clock with their running game.  Lamont Jordan carried the ball 6 times for 30 yards and a TD, and caught a pass for 15 yards.  Justin Fargas looked great.  Fargas carried the ball 10 times for 62 yards.  RaShard Lee have a rough go of it, carrying the ball 12 times for 19 yards.

Randy Moss was electric on Friday night catching 3 passes for 102 yards and 2 TDs.

The improving Raiders defense had another good game on Friday.  The Raiders only allowed 76 yards rushing on 3.8 yards per carry.  The Raiders only allowed the Lions to complete 48.6% of their passes for 185 net yards…..and the Raiders picked-off 2 passes.

Raiders QB play has been awful

The Raiders need their QBs to wake up, as the season is just a couple of weeks away.  Aaron Brooks is lucky he’s the most experienced QB on the roster because he hasn’t played too well.  Brooks has completed only 12 of 26 passes (46.2%) for 153 yards with 2 TDs and 2 INT, for a QB rating of 58.7.

Andrew Walter has not been exactly setting the world on fire either.  Walter has completed 21 of 39 passes (53.8%) of his passes for 293 yards with a TD and 2 interceptions, for a QB rating of 65.4.  Walter has moved up to the #2 QB position.

Marques Tuiasosopo has been downright terrible and he might not make the team.  He has completed 10 of 23 passes (43.5%) for 123 yards and a pick-off, his QB rating is 42.5.

Raiders 3-0 in pre-season due to their stout defense

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by ravenhater on Wednesday 23 August 2006 at 3:12 pm

The Raiders have been flat-out dominating on defense to start the pre-season.  The Raiders need their offense to catch up to the level of the defense.  The Raiders are averaging 110.3 yards rushing per game, but only 3.2 yards per carry.  The passing game hasn’t been too productive either.  The Raiders are only averaging 170.3 yards passing per game and are only completing 48.9% of their passes.

The Raiders defense has been flat-out impressive.  The Raiders are only allowing 70.7 yards rushing per game and holding their opponents to 3.3 yards per carry.  The Raiders are only giving up 166.0 yards per game thru the air and allowing their opponent to complete only 54.2% of their passes.
